U.S. Senate candidate Ty Pinkins will be the featured speaker at a fundraiser breakfast hosted by the DeSoto County Democrative Executive Committee on March 29.
Pinkins is unopposed for the Democratic nomination for the seat now held by U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker (R), who is running for re-election in the March 12 Republican primary against state Rep. Dan Eubanks (R-Walls) and retired U.S. Marine Corps Col. Ghannon Burton.
Pinkins will be among several speakers at the breakfast, set to begin at 10 a.m. on March 29 at Northwest Church of Christ, 1483 Brookhaven Drive in Southaven. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m.
Pastor Eric Lee, Sr. Pastor of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church will also serve as a featured speaker.
Titled, “The Soul of our Democracy,” a roundtable discussion will include Bro. Tradanius Beard, Sr. Minister, Northwest Church of Christ; Dr. Tamela Boyd Shaw, President, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Alpha Alpha Zeta Omega Chapter; Shulandra Kerr, State Social Action Coordinator, DeSoto County Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority; Angela Gillespie-Pegues, Sr. Pastor, True Worship Empowerment Church; Commissioner Jimmy Stokes, Sr. Pastor, Northwest Side Church of Christ. The panel will be moderated by Lovie West, 4th Vice President of the National Federation of Democratic Women.
Others on the program will include Mayor Keidron Henderson of Walls; House District 40 state Rep. Hester Jackson-McCray; Horn Lake Alderwoman LaShonda Johnson; and DeSoto County NAACP President Robert Tipton.
